DEADLY ARTISTS ONLINE ~ INDIGENOUS / ABORIGINAL ARTIST ~ ART & CULTURE

Reciprocal Link Guidelines / Content Contribution

For those websites who are seeking reciprocal links, following are the guidelines. Any communication that do not follow the guidelines will not get a reply, so please ensure you read, understand and follow these guidelines before asking for a reciprocal link.

Reciprocal Link Request

If you are applying for a ‘reciprocal link’ or a ‘free listing’ 1, the following must apply before we will even consider your request:
  • Your site / information must be about Indigenous Aboriginal Australian, with preference specifically given to sites with Australian Indigenous Aboriginal works and/or artists content.

  • If you have your own site, you must first provide us with a reciprocal link2.

  • The reciprocal linking page must be obvious and accessible by following your website navigation starting from the homepage of your web site3.

  • Our link must be on an appropriate page and grouped/categorised correctly. Do not expect a link if our link is buried in a section with thousands of other links and impossible to find. It appears that many search engines are penalising websites for such listings.

  • The page containing our link must be ‘crawlable’ by search engines ie they must be able to get to that page by following a trail of links starting from the home page3.

  • Multiple links may be approved if it is referenced to specific contribution of content.

  • Your site must be in English or be part of an English component, as we currently do not have the facility to cater for multiple languages.

  • You must be a legitimate business4.

  • If you represent or promote a specific artist, it is recommended that you link both to our home  page and the page profiling the artist, to get the maximum benefit from search engines.

  • Preference is given to art related sites that provide content to this site. It is highly recommended that you do link back to this site, as search engines look favourably on related sites, with good content that link to each other.

Contribution of Content Link Request

If you have contributed content including articles and images, you will be eligible for a link.

By supplying information that contributes to an artist profile and work, and if accepted for publication, the information will include reference to you as the ‘source’ of the material and if you are a gallery, a link to your gallery in the appropriate section of this site ie if you promote or sell a particular artist, then the link to your gallery will appear under the artist profile section.

You are still requested to provide us with a reciprocal link, as as search engines currently look favourably on related sites, with good content that link to each other, so the benefit for linking to us goes both ways.

If you are a gallery owner and you promote or representing a number of Indigenous artists, then you will be given multiple listings / links on this site only if you have provided us with an reciprocal link, otherwise we can only provide you with a single listing.

Please ensure you read the following footnote for additional important information.

Footnote

1

We need to confirm the link to Deadly Artists and/or Deadly Art Online, before approving or providing the link to you.

2

Search engines index websites by following links, usually starting from the domain root or home page. If the search engines cannot get to information by following the relevant links starting from your home page, then the content and links on that page cannot be indexed, and you lose any benefits of providing such links.

3

You must be a legitimate, relevant and related business. Australian-based businesses dealing in Indigenous art and culture are looked on favourably for a listing. Overseas sites dealing or related to Australian Indigenous art and culture will also be considered.

4

If your site is ineligible for a listing, do not expect a reply. If your request is eligible under our guidelines and you have not heard back from us within 2 months (that is the current delay due to the number of request), send us another request. Your email may may not have reached us.

Priority is given to request relating to Australian Indigenous Aboriginal artist. A lot of incoming emails to us are marked as spam or junk email. If you think your request for a listing has been marked as such, just send us a courtesy email asking if we have received it.

As emails are vetted by humans and not computers, if you have applied for a link using false information or junk information, do not expect a reply.
